No one can deny the fact that being in college can be quite expensive, but that doesn’t mean you can’t save money! No matter the reasons you might be on a tight budget, I can help you out by providing you with the following tips or habits to save money! Trust me you will thank me later.
1. CREATE A BUDGET
You really need to make a budget for yourselves and stick to it. First, you will have to understand your needs and expenses and then create it wisely. ( a blog post about making a budget is coming so subscribe to be notified when is up!)
2. NEVER BE LATE ON A PAYMENT
In some countries, if you pay late your remittance, the cost will increase. So as you guessed correctly we don’t want that, so I would definitely suggest getting on top of your bills by using apps for reminders or even just notebooks.
3.KEEP TRACK OF THE BEST HAPPY HOURS & RESTAURANT PROMOS
It is college, I get it, you want to go out with your friends, but you can do it while attending to the happy hours or using promos to get discounts! You really need to search for that info and trust me you will be happy when you realise at the end of the month that you have actually managed to save money.
4. LIMIT THE ALCOHOL
Alcohol can be a trap for many reasons. Firstly it can harm your health and secondly it is usually expensive. So I would propose maybe limiting it as much as you can.
5. ASK FOR STUDENT DISCOUNTS
A lot of the times employees might forget to inform the customers for student discounts so make sure you ask.
6. SKIP THE GYM MEMBERSHIP
Some universities provide gym facilities so if there are please take advantage of them. If there are not maybe you can work out in parks with friends or at home.
7. FIND A ROOMMATE
Finding a good roommate can be hard but it is so worth it. All bills will be split, you will have company continuity and you will always be helped with your problems.
8. BORROW BOOKS
I can’t stress this enough! If it is not necessary do not buy books. You can always borrow books from the library or even better ask older friends to help you out by giving you their old ones.
9. IF YOU BUY BOOKS SELL THEM AFTER
Although I’ve said not to buy books, if you really need to, make sure they are in good condition so as to be able to sell them after.
10. LIVE AT HOME
Of course, this tip does not apply to all but if you ‘re going to college in your hometown please consider living with your parents. Probably this is not what you wanted to hear but the money you will save will be useful in the future.
These were 10 tips to save money! I hope you found something useful. If you did please subscribe so as to be notified when more blog posts are up. More college-related topics are coming!
